“I had a great day with Steve and the other photographers yesterday. The weather was perfect and the birds were very well behaved. As always, I learn a lot from Steve and he is always patient with me which I greatly appreciate. I really enjoy his company and sharing his knowledge. Please pass on my thanks to him and look forward to seeing him again in the not too distant future”. Carole Hudson, Birds of Prey photography course – September 2024

“I wanted to say thank you for a great day. Steve is still just as passionate about photography as our first encounter on a very rainy London photo evening! Steve – your style is spot on for me. I learnt some new skills to put into practice and you helped reinforce some of the approaches I’m using today. More importantly, it’s fun and relaxed – thank you. Have a great week”. – Ben Cripps, New Forest photography course, June 2024

“Thank you for sending the attachments containing photography guidance. I want to to advise you that they are accessible and legible. In relation to the course at Bempton on Thursday 16th May, I wish to say that it was a fantastic day. Not only was Steve informative, helpful and patient but he came across as a true gentleman. He clearly has a wealth of knowledge coupled with vast experience in the field. Nevertheless, he was humble, approachable and inclusive. He also possesses a sense of humour which must be an asset, both when tutoring others or waiting for long periods to capture the desired image, particularly where unpredictable wildlife is the theme. Very early on in the day I knew that I was going to learn things and I was right. Furthermore, although it is too soon to make any further commitments, I would like to think that I will attend another one of Steve’s courses in the future” – David Spicker. – Seabird photography course – May 2024

Much Appreciated.” Sheila Morrison. – London Night photography course – January 2024

“Many thanks for all the notes. I’ll spend time reading them through. I thoroughly enjoyed the day with Steve, who was very helpful in explaining how to handle my camera and achieve better photos. I’m a third of the way through editing out the images I don’t want to keep and may post a few on your FB page. In short, I had a great day and it rekindled my interest in nature photography. Many thanks to Steve. All the best”. Alastair Nisbet : Sussex Woodland Bird course – October 2023

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you for a great Birds Of Prey Workshop this week. My photos from the workshop are excellent and have so many good photos of each bird and even the in-flight ones turned out really good. I cannot believe how many new things I learn from you each time I attend one of your workshops and how the results turn out. Really looking forward to the next workshop in August (birds and foxes). Thanks again – superb” : Kelven Spratling : Birds of Prey photography course – July 2023

The instruction was really a great help and look forward to receiving the course notes to keep practicing the things we learnt from you. “I can say that on the train all the way home and on our WhatsApp group all day, there has been some very excited chatter – we had a really wonderful afternoon/evening. All concerned enjoyed the location, the pace, the learning and Steve’s quiet but attentive help throughout the photography course. Pictures are starting to surface as we get to our laptops!
Thanks to you for an incredible well organised, well run and relaxing but great photographic experience”. Gareth Fish, bespoke London photography course – group booking for members of local Photographic Society – Feb. 2023

“Many thanks for sending through Steve’s various helpful notes. The course was amazing, and ‘hit the nail on the head’. Just what I needed! Please thank Steve again. He has a way of explaining things that doesn’t make you feel stupid 🙂. The woodland set-up and the lovely company also made it special. I’ve applied to join the student space Facebook group”. “I just wanted to thank you for a brilliant day on Saturday. I can’t believe it was four years ago that I did my first wildlife day with you as an almost complete beginner to photography. Thanks to your help and guidance over the past years, I feel so much more confident, not only with wildlife photography, but landscape and macro as well. What I’ve really appreciated over the years is how you tailor your workshops to cover all levels of photographer without making us beginners feel we’re asking stupid questions, but at the same time catering for those with more experience. Four years on and I’m still learning new things (back button focus springs to mind!) I’ve passed on your details to a number of friends/acquaintances and also to the lovely chap I met doing a private Fox Hide session in the summer. Hopefully some of them have been in touch”. Susan Wright, Wildlife photography course, December 2022

“Thanks so much for sending these photography course notes through. I will sign up for my next course soon. It was so useful having an expert teacher. Lots have people have tried to explain the basic camera set-ups but they made it way too complicated. Steve explained it so simply, it even lodged in my technophobe brain. It really was an enjoyable day, it totally lifted my spirits”. Rachel Lister, Seals Wildlife photography course, December 2022

“Thank you for sending these notes. I have just read through all of them and will return to them again. I found the course yesterday really enjoyable and useful. I have been a photographer since my father gave me a second hand Agfa Isolette when I passed the 11-plus back in 1960. Dad had a darkroom and was a good photographer, but neither he nor I had any formal photography training. I now know much more about how to use my camera and also a better understanding of how to use its features to take generally better pictures. Thank you again”. Sara Scott, Essex Photography course, October 2022

“Thank you for the course notes which are a very useful addition to the actual photography day out. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Steve. I learnt so much and have been out since and practiced my new skills. Still shooting in manual 😀 Steve was a really enthusiastic instructor and his passion for wildlife photography was evident throughout. I will highly recommend his courses to my photography pals. I will look to book myself on one of the New Forest days next year. I have requested to join the Student Space group on Facebook, which is now pending. Could you accept my request, so that I can add a few pics from our day”? Linda Snape, Red Deer Wildlife photography course, October 2022

“Thank you so much for the course notes. I have to say as a fairly experienced amateur I got a lot of out of the course, and enjoyed the session immensely. I’ll be putting these notes to good use, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone put the points across so clearly and concisely. I actually found Steve to be the most helpful tutor I have come across to date, attentive to all members of the group regardless of ability and informative at the same time. Thank you again, and I’ll certainly be looking up other courses you do.” Steve Hubbard, Suffolk’s Hidden coast course – November 2021

“Dear Steve, Thanks very much for the talk you have just given us. Really useful and great fun too. I know everyone would have loved it and learned plenty. So many sensible ideas which we too often overlook or forget. I am doubly relieved as I am in charge of booking people to do the talks. I can’t quite remember where I got your name from. It might well have been one of the East Anglian Clubs for whom I have been judging recently. It was a good choice. You went down really well so that’s another feather in my hat. Thanks! I will be on again soon to get you back to pretty much talk about anything you like! A great night – thanks again. Let me know all the ways people can access your stuff and services and I will mention them on our website when I write up the report of your evening in a few days.” Dave, Park Street Camera Club: Presentation : October 2021

“Many thanks for the course notes and I’d like to thank Steve for a great day out photographing the New Forest last Saturday. I appreciated his personal touch in teaching and encouraging us throughout the day. He gave just enough technical/theory to understand each challenge of the day, but spent most of his time helping each person to capture great images using their own cameras. Some of us had more experience than others and I liked the way he knew how to guide and encourage each personal individually. I would highly recommend Steve’s courses. Although you can learn a lot from YouTube, nothing beats some personal hands on tuition! Many thanks”. Adrian La-Garde, New Forest photography course: August 2021

“What a fantastic course and learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the day with Steve and his very good teaching style meant I learnt loads without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. The day was nicely spread out into three parts and with opportunity to discuss and ask questions. I’ve already gone out to purchase myself a long lens and look forward to taking more pictures”. Sunny Gunessee, August 2021

“Many thanks Steve. All of the notes have been received. It was a great day. You are a credit to the profession and as we stated yesterday, this was the best course I’ve ever been on. “I really enjoyed the photoshoot and it was what I needed to give me ideas on how to improve taking photographs. My head is still buzzing from what I have learnt as I hadn’t ventured out of auto since I got the camera. Can’t wait to get out again and put what I have learnt into practice. The notes you sent are fantastic as I spent this morning looking at the pictures and going through the settings on the pictures to remind me of how the pictures were taken and writing notes out as I went along. I will keep an eye open on your other courses and should one come up in Dorset again I will try my best to come on it especially if its wildlife or woodlands as I see some cracking pictures people take and wish I could shoot something similar. But first I need to practice and get more used to the camera and what it can do. Thank you again for your patience and encouragement”. Andy Cox : Dorset Coast photography course : May 2021

“I am sure I can speak for most of our photo club when I say how much we enjoyed your presentation tonight. Three members have even written to me to say so since you finished, with one requesting we invite you again. I think it was extremely enjoyable to see such a variety of images yet each demonstrating the technique or point you are making. It was also quite good to see some dud images. I think it really brings home the importance of thinking about composition as well as light. I have been on a few courses since I got my first ‘proper’ camera in 2007 and I don’t think any covered more than what you covered. I particularly noted what several courses do not emphasise enough, which is the choice of focal length. We think about F number and DOF a lot but there is less mention of the effect of changing from wide angle to telephoto. I think your images e.g. Dungeness beach with hut and boat, really brought home the importance. But your actual style made it all extra special; you must have had some practice because it flowed so well, yet there was a light touch: sorry you could not hear us laughing at your jokes. And yes, I can’t believe you have been a photographer for 35 years-you must have started in infant school. So thank you very much indeed for a stimulating talk”. ZOOM camera club presentation : L & LPS., March 2021

“Please convey my thanks to Steve for a fantastic course yesterday. For me the level was pitched just right, I really learned a lot without getting crammed with too much. I have been interested in photography all my life and have attended evening classes when I was younger and latterly a local group. These were all OK but were too basic. I don’t know how you managed to get so much info into one day, but it worked really well for me. Thanks”! Chris Parish : Kent (1) course, October 2020

“Hi Steve, Thanks so much for the notes, these will be very well used believe me 🙂 Just wanted to say that over the years I have been doing photography I will have spent in excess of £3k on photoshoots with a huge number of different photographers… but Saturday’s workshop was the best I have attended for a long long time, and possibly the best tuition and advice I have ever received. Wildlife is my genre and its what keeps me going with my photography, The advice re. shutter speed and F stops, V image stabilisation had never crossed my mind before and I have to say the images I got are amongst the best I have taken in a few years. Your knowledge and passion was amazing, and I really do want to book more sessions with you (especially wildlife ones) I know I have the foxes/birds next year and I will be taking a look at your website for others. Thank you once again”. Joan Hagan, Red Deer Wildlife photography course : October 2020

I really enjoyed your talk tonight. Very informative and useful. I loved your enthusiasm and humour. I think a lot of people enjoyed the night; not just the content which was superb but also your style of presentation. “Hi Steve, Just thought I’d drop you a line about tonight’s course. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot. You worked very hard answering questions and the practical help was second to none. I’ve just had a quick look at my shots and I’m very pleased with the results, in fact I’m gobsmacked I actually took them! I’ll definitely be booking a one to one Course in the future. So thank you very much you did an excellent job with all the students”. Colin Benson, London Night photography course, Nov. 2019

“Hi Steve, What can I say? I am already up and making a flask of coffee for my stroll down to the river! My friend, you were superb yesterday. To give that much control and confidence to a complete beginner is a skill, not to mention the fun day itself. My most sincere thanks. Some of my photos from yesterday are just amazing! And I’m sure they’re not that good but I think I am a little bias…..;-) I will most certainly see you again on another shoot/lesson”. Peter Wigington, Essex course, November 2019

“Just to say Sunday’s course was a very informative day – I learned a lot and at the same time had a great day, we had a good mix of people. I am now more confident in the use of my camera and getting a better angle on shots. I will able to use manual, where appropriate, without taking “hours” to get a half decent picture. This reduces any feeling I am “holding up” others why I compose a shot. I think you may see me again on another “day out” at one of your courses – it is so useful just to have a day with like mind people engaging in our hobby and with an expert to guide and encourage us. You are an expert, but what I like about you is your natural ability to teach and encourage the group”. Chris Temple, Suffolk (2), November 2019

“Notes received thank you! Please also thank Steve for making this another brilliant workshop – after last year’s Seals, I had high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. I have come away with some great images, but more importantly a better understanding of the red deer and how best to capture them. My biggest concern was whether or not we’d actually see any deer but I know that Steve did a recce on Thurs pm and knew exactly where to take us and we certainly weren’t disappointed”. Susan Wright, Red Deer wildlife photography course – October 2019

“Dear Steve, WOW what an evening you gave us. If our members went away just remembering one of your suggestions then they will be a better photographer. Presented exceptionally well and on PRINTS; a rarity these days. As one who still works mainly on film 6 x 4.5 we have to take many of your points before pressing the shutter. For many these days brought up on digital and mobile phones, when they can press as many times as they like and hope Photoshop can make the print, it must have been a wake up call. Looking forward to next year’s visit”. Phil, Maldon Camera Club presentation, April 2019

“Steve, Just to let you know, I have been getting some good results at my local camera club print competitions and last night, came 1st in my group, so chuffed to bits mate. Many thanks for your help and advice, cannot wait for the next competition, as will be putting in the marvellous seal image I captured when on our one-to-one in Norfolk. Again, Many Thanks”. “I must thank you so much for the role you played in such a successful weekend, you, of course, were the ‘Star Turn’ . It was a great morning, that certainly set the tone for the weekend, followed by the Canterbury Walk, which was great fun and enforced the fact that there are images to be had in our own locality. I am so pleased with myself that I was able to organise some good weather, well at least no rain, for our Monday Workshop. You certainly gave us a jam packed day and am sure we all learnt some things about our cameras, our tripods and our mindset, as well as hopefully capturing some successful images. Can’t wait to have a look at mine. I was impressed by the way you conduct your workshops, you made us all feel comfortable and we were not made to feel inadequate in our photographic knowledge. You worked so hard to include us all, with your constructive help, advice and encouragement. It was a very enjoyable and productive day for all those present and we are already talking of planning another with you possibly in London and Richmond in 2019. The knowledge you hold is amazing and your commentary so easy to understand, you certainly helped to simplify the lighting process for portraiture, and think if I follow your diagrams, will be so much more successful in my attempts. We think you gave us a starting point to help FCC Members, future portrait efforts and many thanks for that. I would thoroughly recommend your workshops, and will promote you on our website and encourage subscribers to your Youtube Channel. On behalf of myself, President, the Chairman, Committee and members of FCC, members of Dynamic Range and the Workshop attendees, thank you for giving up your time to come and talk to us and to help us in our photography endeavours. We very much look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards, Melanie Chalk President FCC” Lecture and photography walk for Folkestone Camera Club, December 2018

“Many thanks for the notes pages and follow-up email. I have just come in from taking pics of the night sky and coast of Kent. Not necessarily the best light for it, but a good time to practice and get used to the camera and playing with light and settings. Thank you so much for all your effort during the Brecon tour, I really, REALLY enjoyed the time spent in the Beacons and I learnt a ‘shed-load’. Too much to digest at the time, but now the dust is settling I feel like I am managing to make some progress. Some of the pics from the course I am very impressed with. Of the many excellent things the course contained I thought that your preparation, reading of the weather and local knowledge of the sites for each day were exceptional. Each venue was carefully considered and delivered the right environment for photographs and lesson reinforcement. The spontaneity to adapt to the changing environment and the knowledge of where the best photo opportunities were to be had made the course so very motivational. Finally, your enthusiasm for photography and your work was so inspirational it became infectious and as a result I am now rarely without the camera! Thanks again for your efforts I am sure I will be joining you on another course in the near future”. David Hooper, Brecon Beacons Course – Sept. 2018

“After attending one of Steve’s courses I would highly recommend it to any one who is looking to get into photography, a beginner looking to hone their skills, or to take a hobby the next step. In a group of five people of varying abilities, everyone received tutoring specific to their skill set in a friendly environment. I learnt a great deal & have been out since practicing! Already planning my next course with Steve”. James, Kent (1) Sept. 2018

“A wildlife 1-to-1 session with Steve, bought as a present for my 50th from my dear wife. Possibly one of the best days I have ever spent with a Camera. “Just a line to say thank you for a really excellent and entertaining evening last Thursday. What a great choice of subjects and how we enjoyed them. Lots of information on how, why, where and when; techniques were shown and described in great detail. There was no tedious pomposity just lots of info and fun. Feedback from that night has been really positive, everyone said what a good speaker you were and how much they enjoyed the evening. So thank you again for coming to us and giving us all a super evening. Steve was one of the best speakers we have had”. NPG Camera Club Talk, June 2018

“Just thought I would drop you a few lines regarding my three days 1-2-1 tuition that I received as a Christmas present that we have spread throughout the first part of this year. I would like to say a big thank you for your patience in teaching me! I am no longer scared of my camera equipment, in fact we are becoming friends….. Your method of instruction was just what I needed and on reflection you have taught me so much. I am now equipped with the knowledge to go away and practice and it’s great to get to a location or event and just instinctively change settings to meet the demands. This certainly didn’t happen before your instruction. I look forward to moving forward now with my photography and I’ll hopefully see you soon, either in the field or on another course”. Paul Edington, One-to-One tuition student

“Please let Steve know that I enjoyed Monday and found it very informative. I have been on a few similar courses and this was the most interactive I have had, his method was very “hands on’’, he took time to make sure that we understood what we were doing. All I need to do now is to put into practice what he taught us. The notes arrived safely, many thanks for them”. Mick Langston, Essex Photography course, May 2018

“Just wanted to say that I had a fantastic time in Dorset with Steve and the other course attendees. Steve has a real skill to keep everything relaxed as well as share his time and gauge the needs of each person. I was very much a beginner but did not once feel left out or holding others back. Can’t wait until later in the year for my other courses and next year’s dates as I would like to do another course”. Nicki Baggott, Dorset Coast two-day course: May 2018

“Really enjoyed the 1-2-1 wildlife photography course today. You answered all of the questions that I had before we started the day. Great hides to practice in and understanding the theory with the weather on our side. Aiming to practice tomorrow and build up my reasons to upgrade the camera. Thanks again for the information packed day”. Andrew Willis, one-to-one wildlife photography tuition day – March 2018

“Thank you for the course notes. They are a great reinforcement to a very well organised and presented course. The course itself was great fun, very instructive and very enjoyable. Steve is a great tutor and I, who have been into photography for over 50 years, learnt a lot both in terms of improving my techniques but also about the better use of my DSLR. I shall certainly be looking at the other courses you have on offer. Many, many thanks”. Mike Doyle, Norfolk Course, May 2017

“Thank you for the notes. I really enjoyed yesterday’s course. It was instructional and fun and I learnt a lot. He set us challenges which certainly made us think. Paul, Christina and I were quite flattered when Steve described us as experienced photographers – not sure we are, but we’ve learnt a lot from our camera club and now more from Steve. It was good to meet the other two participants also. I really appreciated that he knew about my camera, The Panasonic FZ1000. Most people, including some professionals have no idea about the 1″ sensor advanced bridge cameras, and when you mention it, look blank or look down on it because it’s not an interchangeable lens camera from Canon on Nikon. I’m certainly considering doing more courses with Steve in the future because of his teaching and the locations he offers. Which one though?.. so much choice! Many thanks for a great day” Anita Ettershank, Essex course, May 2017

“Many thanks for sending me so quickly the photography notes, which I look forward to studying. I would like to thank you for a most informative and enjoyable day. You struck just the right balance between technical information, artistic guidelines and practical advice, all of which was most helpful. You covered a lot of things I “sort of” knew, but I came away with a much more confident understanding of them, and I learned some valuable new techniques as well. And on top of all this you made it fun”. Martin Rist, New Forest, April 2017

“Just a quick note to thank you so much for a really great week. I feel I’ve learnt and gained so much more confidence this week with my photography which is due to your expert and sensitive tuition. Not only has it been great photographically but I’ve really enjoyed the social aspect of the week. I feel we gelled well as a group and had a lot of fun in addition to the serious aspects of the week. This would not have been possible without your motivation, kindness and ensuring that everyone felt welcome and part of the group at all times. Thank you so very much and I really hope I can come on another of your courses (when I can find one with spaces!! ) very soon”. Adrian Lowe-Wheeler, Venice Carnival course: February 2017

“Many thanks for the notes etc, will make for some interesting bedtime reading! On a more serious note I am sure they will be useful and good for reference. This was my first photography workshop and I was not sure what I would get from it, but have to say that I enjoyed it immensely and found the other participants great fun. The time you took to explain settings etc will be very useful going forward and I certainly learnt much more than I expected. Once again many thanks for a most enjoyable few hours, all the best to you and yours”. Yo Gladman, London Night Photography course, November 2016

“Thank you for a great course last weekend. Norfolk is a really lovely place for photography and you showed us some great locations. I will definitely be visiting again. Slowly going through my pictures, I have so many to keep and work on, it’s becoming hard to choose the best. Maybe I should take less next time.
The Happisburgh ones are really nice; we were so lucky with the weather there. Steve always seemed to have the knack of matching the location to the weather and to what we were being taught at the time”. Keith Payne, Norfolk two-day course: May 2016
“Notes received thanks. These are really helpful and I found the course to be fantastic. Thanks for all who organised it and especially to Steve for his patience and great ” teaching/training skills” . Unlike a previous course I once went on ( and paid a lot of money for) he had a great way of getting across the basics without making me feel stupid, really enjoyed and once I have practiced a bit I will be ready to upgrade my camera and come on another course. Thanks again”. Patricia Dabrowski, Kent Course, May 2016
“Thank you very much for the notes. I look forward to going through them. The course was excellent – it was fantastic that so much was covered in a single day and I now feel much more comfortable using my camera – please pass on my thanks to Steve”! Anna Gallagher, one-to-one photography student – April 2016
“I really enjoyed the day and was amazed that I learned so much about my camera that I was previously unaware of! Great day, great timing of event (we thought Steve arranged the weather too 😉 Thanks for the photography notes – no chance to read and review yet but will do this week. This evening I have downloaded the pics I took and with a few exceptions were considerably better than many of my earlier shots. Thanks once again”, Laurence Duffell, Sussex Coast Course. April 2016
“I had a great day yesterday, thank you. So much to remember, the notes will be very useful to look through at my leisure. I’m looking forward to my next course in May. Many thanks for a great day, your help and patience. Regards” Paul Lawrence, Suffolk Coast, March 2016
“He was an extremely exciting speaker at our photography club on Thursday and someone who I feel sure would be inspirational to be around on a workshop. I know everyone that evening thoroughly enjoyed Steve’s talk and some of the club have already attended his courses, which I hope to be doing during the year” Adrian Lowe-Wheeler, Camera Club talk attendee, February 2016
“Hi, just to let you know that the course notes that you supply after the day’s photography workshop came through just fine. Can you also thank Steve for an enjoyable and very informative day. Tell him that I’ve been clicking away at everything of interest in manual mode and it’s all his fault! If anyone is thinking of booking a lesson with Steve and they’d like a reference, give them my e mail address for a recommendation. Great fun and great value for money.
Many thanks,
Allan”. Allan Flight, Flatford Mill course, June 2015
“Just wanted to say “thank you” again for our brilliant photography day with you a few weeks ago. We had a great time, thoroughly enjoyed it, can’t believe how much we learnt! We had a few days in Kielder Forest the week after which gave us a really good opportunity to practice what we’d learnt. In particular using the histogram all the time, moving the focal point around and generally considering composition has helped a lot and added new interest to taking better photos rather than just recording memories.
Your notes are really useful and the locations on the River Chelmer were so varied and interesting. We really appreciated all your hard work, patience and good humour and feel our photography has improved loads. Hopefully we can fit in another date before our holiday.
Will be happy to recommend you to friends and family, thank you again”. Mick and Alison Gaunt, Two-to-one photography tuition day, June 2015
“Just a quick “Thank you” for the recent course and the time you took to explain and show the power and use of Photoshop. An excellent course giving me the basic tools to explore and practice this facet of photography which had been a closed shop to me before.
Great teaching skills and patience! Thanks again”. Terry Scott, Digital Imaging course: May/June 2015
“I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop on Saturday and gained a great deal from Steve, who is an excellent tutor by the way. I have received the notes as mentioned and look forward to doing more workshops in the future”. David Hazelton, London photography course, April 2015
“Even though I have been on 3 of your courses now there is always something new to learn and you have inspired me to dust off that wide angle lens and give it a go” – Keith Payne, Kent photography course (2)– March 2015
“I just wanted to say that it was a great pleasure to hear your talk last night. It was comprehensive and understandable. We got a lot of information that was delivered with humour and enthusiasm – one of the best (if not the best) talks I have attended since I joined about 10 years ago!!
The best part was that it made me think about how I make my images and not just which lens to use.
Thanks again and I am happy for you to use this as an unsolicited endorsement”. Regards, Vic Prior, West Mersea Camera Club. March 2015
“Just a quick note to thank you for the advanced photography course completed tonight. Still utterly amazed at how cheap the course was compared to the huge amount of information, tips and advice that I have learnt over the past 6 weeks. Brilliant. I am going to miss the weekly sessions; they really gave me a focus each week for improvement. I would not hesitate to recommend the course to others.
I am really interested in joining the group for exhibiting work, never done this before – so please do add me to the email distribution list.
I know I will be back on one of your many trips and activities in the future. Thanks again”. Tracy Jenkins, advanced photography course – November through to December 2014
“Just wanted to pass on my thanks for a truly awesome workshop last Sunday and also to let you know that I successfully received all your comprehensive notes. All that remains now is to put your words of wisdom into practice. Thanks once again and I very much look forward to participating in one of your workshops again in the near future”. Steve Youens, Suffolk Coast course – October 2014
“Many thanks for the course notes which have arrived safely. I must also thank you for such a brilliant course. All the arrangements worked perfectly and I learned a huge amount about the art and science of photography. I have reviewed my 736 photos and there are some that I am very pleased with. Steve, your unflagging enthusiasm and encouragement were an inspiration to us all”. Martin Gill, Brecon Beacons course, Sept 2014
“Just a note to say how much I enjoyed yesterday’s course. A great day where I learned such a lot. Going out on location really helped to put everything in perspective and hopefully helped me to retain all that I learned. Onwards and upwards now! See you on the Chelmer course”. Pat Marshall, Classroom/location course, May 2014

Thank you Steve, for a great day’s shooting in the Chelmer Valley. I particularly enjoyed the way you talked about a particular aspect of photography and then took us to an ideal location where we were able to try to capture those ideas on camera. It was the first time for me in that part of the country, but an area I will try to return to”. Mike Burt: Chelmer Valley, March 2014
“Thank you so much for the Venice trip. I took 1600 pictures and had such a wonderful time. Everything was so well organised and the teaching was brilliant”. Bill Bliss, Venice Carnival 2014
“Thanks very much. I was amazed on the day at how the time just flew by. Definitely inspired now to “compose” more and “snap” less! A tripod will be my trusty companion now. Great Day”. Malcolm Stone, Sussex Coast, March 2014
“Many thanks for the notes. It was a brilliant course. Steve covered so much in a short space of time, I will now need to spend a good few week going back over the notes and digesting everything”. Jacqui Price: Six week classroom-based intermediate course, Sept/Oct 2013.

“Really enjoyed the day yesterday and going to take your notes (plus my camera) on holiday to the Isle of Wight next week so I’m hoping to improve my photography with your help plus a new lens and filter. Thanks again for a very informative day and your great presentation”. Peter Jackson: Kent Coast course: August 2013
“I just wanted to write and say what a brilliant day I had yesterday and thanks for your excellent tuition. I really do appreciate your help and your patience. The day has given me a great foundation from which to progress”. Gary Mead, one-to-one student: June 2013
“Loved every minute of my day and a lovely bunch of fellows too!! Steve is so enthusiastic and helpful. Can’t wait to do another course. Would you thank Steve very much indeed for a hugely enjoyable and instructive day” Fanny Brogden: Dungeness and Rye photography workshop, June 2013
“Thank you for a most interesting and enjoyable day. You unlocked the power of my camera in a most informative and enjoyable way. Your choice of locations in order to demonstrate a specific set of camera settings/functionality whilst combining this with lessons on the creative aspect of photography made for a seamless but informative learning experience. Your course notes are straightforward and easy to follow; this combined with your boundless enthusiasm for your art and open teaching style made for a most enjoyable day. I now have a much better understanding of the potential of my camera and a new hunger to experiment with photography” Ian Reid, Chelmer Valley course: March 2013
“Hi Steve, Just a quick line to say thank you for an enjoyable day on Sunday. I picked up quite a few pointers and now find I am thinking more about taking a photo instead of pointing and pressing. I had some very nice shots from the day”. David Martin.
“Great course. Thoroughly recommend it for a beginner like me who barely knew my camera before I attended the course. However, Steve showed me all it could do and what great photos I could take with a bit of knowledge and preparation. So much more fun than sitting down with a manual. I learnt so much, my brain ached from concentrating so hard – but in a satisfying way!! The pace felt just right, the locations excellent and the pitch was perfect. It was a delightful way to spend a beautiful sunny day. The course notes provided were clear and concise and have proved useful since attending the course. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steve’s courses to friends and family (already have) and will certainly book another course in the future. Many thanks Steve”. Louise Grimwood.

“Dear Steve, I can’t thank you enough for coming down to help us today. You are a very good teacher and explained everything in a way that is easy to understand. I shall look at your notes that you provided regularly so that it reinforces what we learnt today. I didn’t realise that Portchester Castle had so many photographic opportunities! Your ‘checklist’ of things to think about was really helpful. Thank you. Above all, I no longer feel frightened of all the buttons on my camera and will do my best to keep away from ‘automatic’ mode”. Cherry Harnott.
“Hi Steve! A bouquet and a complaint! The bouquet – my thanks for a brilliant day yesterday. I learnt a lot and the eight hours passed by very quickly in the company of yourself and my three fellow students. I will be keeping an eye on your website and will look forward to meeting you again for some great tuition. The complaint – at 3 o’clock this morning my mind was still whirring away on exposure compensation, white balance etc etc……. With best wishes” Bob.
“A well planned course covering a vast subject. Lots covered in the five weeks, thoroughly enjoyable” Mark B. Digital Imaging course.
“Excellent course. I really enjoyed your enthusiasm for the subject. Very happy with the course and well worth the money”. Dave, six week Intermediate course.

“I have learnt more during the last year then I have done in twenty years of reading books. Very informative and fun too”! Dave Tanner, all classroom courses.
“The course was a birthday present and probably the most enjoyable I have ever had. Thank you so much for the notes. They are a great way of backing up what was an informative and enjoyable day. The patience from Steve was great” Ernest Hankey, Suffolk Coast Course – summer 2010.
“Thoroughly enjoyed my day. Already looking at remote switch and tripods……………The notes you have provided are extremely helpful”. Alison Kenny – spring 2011

“Just a quick mail to say thank you for Sunday (15-05-11) You made it an informative day without exploding our brains with too much info! I enjoyed the locations too. I will probably sign up for one of your other workshops or join you for one of your photography ‘Days out’. I really enjoyed it. So much so that I’ve decided I want a better camera now!” Peter Gilbert.
“I have re-done the exercise on leading and diagonal lines and feel I now have a real appreciation and understanding of what this exercise is about. Also, just to let you know I have received lesson two of the course and have read through that and intend starting the projects next week. Thanks again for a great course, Steve. I am thoroughly enjoying it and learning lots and lots”. John Keogh – Distance Learning course student. 2011
“Can you pass on my thanks and gratitude to Steve for the course and his invaluable training. It’s really ignited my desire to just get out there and take photos and for them to come out how I actually want! Thanks very much also for the notes. I’ve already read through them again and I’m sure it won’t be the last time!” Andy Janes, Kent coast, Sept. 2011
“Please will you pass on my thanks to Steve for the course which I really enjoyed. It is great to share a day with like-minded people and learn a lot whilst doing it. The only downside is that I am now severely tempted to rush out and buy more (expensive) equipment. Top of my list is a set of Lee filters including the “big stopper” and of course a rain sleeve for my camera so I have no excuse for not going out in poor weather”. Terry Nelson – February 2013 – Suffolk Coast
