Suffolk Two-Day Photography Course
My two-day Suffolk photography workshop takes in both the coast and countryside of Suffolk. Similar to Norfolk, it is a landscape of big skies, crumbling coastline, pretty villages, fantastic wildlife and of course, windmills. Please dates/availability and price of this two-day photography course to the right of this web page. Over seven hours of tuition each day.
Because this photography workshop is spread over two days we can explore both Suffolk and the art of photography in more depth. We will visit many diverse locations such as Orford Ness and its derelict fishing boats, Southwold, which has a wonderful pier and its famous beach huts, Dunwich Forest and Dunwich Heath which should be in full bloom, a riot of colour at this time of year. Plus we visit Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston Abbey, and Covehithe beach, to name but a few.
Each day begins with all course attendees meeting at a pre-arranged point. Transport between the different photographic locations is not included but Steve is happy to car-share if you wish. He will be driving a seven-seater people carrier. However, if you prefer to use your own car throughout the course, the photographic locations are close to each other and this does not involve driving long distances.
MEETING POINT FOR EACH DAY : Dunwich beach car park : Postcode IP17 3DE
This digital photography course is limited to five participants making it suitable for all levels of photographer regardless of whether you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced photographer. Because the course numbers are limited I have plenty of time to give each student one-to-one tuition. If you are a beginner and want to learn about basic composition and how to use your digital camera then that’s no problem, whereas if you are a more experienced photographer we can work on advanced techniques. Over the two days there are many subjects such as developing the eye and understanding light and colour that we will cover as a group.
The varied locations featured in this course offer very different photographic challenges. Each shoot will involve practical assignments which are designed to boost your camera skills and increase your confidence in communicating visual ideas through good composition, design and attention to detail.
My photography training courses include teaching of subjects such as: camera controls and menus, creative use of shutter speeds and aperture, filter use, including “big stopper”, exposure modes, exposure histogram, automatic focus modes, white balance, close-up photography, composition, HDR technique. Also we cover shooting a digital panoramic, landscape photography, fill flash, composition and the use of light and colour.
Although this is primarily a landscape photography workshop, all the skills you will learn for example camera controls, composition and so on can easily be transferred to other subjects such as people photography, wildlife and nature, sports or architecture.
We will also discuss how to work out sunrise and sunset positions, which of course is very important when it comes to dawn and dusk shoots, as well as the importance of tide times to coastal image making.
After the course is finished all the photography students are sent a full set of notes relating to all the subjects covered over the two days. I think that the notes are very important for you to be able to refer back to, so you can continue to master the skills and techniques taught during the workshop. More importantly you can continue to take great pictures. I am also more than happy to give students a critique of their images after the workshop has finished. Just email a selection and I’ll give you an honest, expert opinion.
Accommodation (if needed) for this course is not included.
we meet at Dunwich beach car park at the start of each day postcode IP17 3EW. If you do need accommodation, anywhere close to Dunwich will be fine.
