Yorkshire’s Atmospheric Coast three-day photography course
Yorkshire’s Atmospheric Coast : three-day photography course

The Yorkshire coast has so much to offer the aspiring landscape photographer. From towering chalk cliffs and rocky coastline to quaint fishing villages and ruined buildings. There is so much variety for us photographers to capture. During this three-day course we will cover both the artistic and technical sides of photography. Looking at composition, the use of light, and how to construct a powerful image.
This location workshop has a maximum of five students, which means there is plenty of time for individual tuition. Because I work with small groups, this course is suitable for all levels of photographer from beginner to more advanced levels. During this photography course many subjects are included from the technical to the artistic aspects of image making. You will learn about creative use of shutter speed, creative use of depth of field, camera controls and menus, exposure histogram, exposure compensation, exposure modes including manual exposure and spot metering, white balance and the use of photographic filters including the big stopper, to the more artistic areas of photography such as developing the photographer’s eye and the use of light and colour.

Once the course is completed I will send all students a full set of notes relevant to all the subjects covered during the course. I think the notes are important because it is really hard to retain all the information we are given. The notes act as a good memory-jog which helps each student get the best from their tuition. My photography courses are run in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere because I think we all learn more when we’re enjoying ourselves. They have a flexible format allowing us to react to changing lighting conditions as well as giving me plenty of time to answer any questions you might have. Each shoot is designed to boost your confidence so you have a much greater success rate when it comes to taking images with mood and impact.

Although this digital photography workshop is landscape-based, all the skills you will learn are readily transferable to other photographic subjects such as wildlife, sport, architectural and people photography. Each photo shoot will enable you to explore your digital camera and master skills that are useful for a wide range of subjects. Although there are no long hikes or high mountains to climb, a reasonable level of fitness is required for this course.
Accommodation (if needed) for this course is not included. Through payment of a deposit or a full payment for this course, you agree to the Terms and Conditions of our Photography Courses as stipulated on our Terms and Conditions page.

Each day begins with all course attendees meeting at a pre-arranged point. Transport between the different photographic locations is not included but Steve is happy to car-share if you wish. He will be driving a seven-seater people carrier. However, if you prefer to use your own car throughout the day, the photographic locations are close to each other and this does not involve driving long distances
