Yorkshire Dales Photography Course
Yorkshire Dales Photography Course
The Yorkshire Dales is the setting for this three-day photography course. There is a huge variety in terms of locations and subjects in the Dales. From limestone pavements, ruined abbeys, dry stone walls marching across the landscape, rushing rivers and of course, fast moving waterfalls, it all adds up to a photographic challenge that will improve each individual photographer whatever their level of experience. The Yorkshire Dales cover a large area so for this course we will concentrate on locations in Malhamdale and Airdale, Wharfedale and Ribblesdale which are situated in the south of the Dales. We may also drop into Wensleydale where there are some fantastic waterfalls.
Over the course of the three days we will cover a broad range of subjects which I will taylor to each individual student. We will look at all the main camera controls such as exposure modes, exposure histogram, focus modes, white balance, controlling depth of field, creative use of shutter speeds and metering modes for example. The artistic side of photography will be heavily featured. Composition and the use of light and colour will be fine- tuned throughout the course.Along with sunrise or sunset shoots (weather permitting) we will also have a crack at using a strong LED torch to create ‘painting with light’ images. The Yorkshire Dales has so many subjects that work fantastically with this type of photography.
We will be meeting in the market town of Skipton. There are a number of hotels, guest houses and B&B’s in Skipton and the surrounding area. I will be staying at a B&B in Skipton.
Each day begins with all course attendees meeting at a pre-arranged point. Transport between the different photographic locations is not included but Steve is happy to car-share if you wish. He will be driving a seven-seater people carrier. However, if you prefer to use your own car throughout the course, the photographic locations are close to each other and this does not involve driving long distances.
This course is limited to a maximum of five photographers, which means I can give everyone lots of individual tuition. Everyone will also receive a full set of comprehensive notes after the course which I think is very important because it’s very hard to retain all the information we are given. Along with learning new techniques and experience, a photography course should always be fun. All my courses are conducted in a relaxed and friendly manner because I think we all learn more when we’re enjoying ourselves.
This course involves reasonable amount of walking; sometimes over uneven surfaces so a good level of fitness is a requirement.
The cost of this course is £345.00 which covers all tuition for the duration of the course. Accommodation is not included in the price of this course.
Through payment of a deposit or the full payment of this course you agree to the terms and conditions as stated on this website.
