London Night Photography Course 2
Like many major cities, London looks spectacular at night. With this in mind I have developed a number of night shoots in London. For this course we meet up Cafe Nero next to St Paul’s Cathedral.
The best time for night time photography is just after sunset when there is still some reflected light present, which gives rise to those silky blue tones in the sky. Because of this the start time for this workshop will vary depending on the time of the year.
All the locations are very close to each other on this workshop because ideal lighting conditions don’t last forever, so we need to make the most of the light while it’s there.
After photographing St Paul’s Cathedral from a variety of angles, we cross the Millennium Bridge and photograph the Shard while we still have good light. I especially love the Shard at night.
MEETING POINT : CAFE NERO NEXT TO ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL MEETING TIME : 2.30PM
What you will learn on this course
On this course we will look at exposure for night photography, the exposure histogram, exposure compensation, white balance for night photography, focusing modes and manual exposure, creating a striking composition and the use of colour for night photography. When to arrive for a night shoot and how to balance ambient light and artificial light.
Because this is a night shoot a tripod is essential for this workshop. If you don’t have a tripod, don’t worry too much as I have a couple of tripods that I lend out to students.
“Hi Steve, Just thought I’d drop you a line about tonight’s course. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot. You worked very hard answering questions and the practical help was second to none. I’ve just had a quick look at my shots and I’m very pleased with the results, in fact I’m gobsmacked I actually took them! I’ll definitely be booking a one-to-one course in the future. So thank you very much you did an excellent job with all the students”. Colin Benson, London Night photography course
This course is limited to a maximum of six students. By keeping the numbers low I can give each participant as much individual attention as they need.
