London Night Photography Course 1
Like many major cities London looks spectacular at night. With this in mind I have developed a number of night shoots in London. For this course we meet up outside Westminster tube station.
The best time for night-time photography is just after sunset when there is still some reflected light present, which gives rise to those silky blue tones in the sky. Because of this the start time for this workshop will vary depending on the time of the year.
All the locations are very close to each other on this workshop because ideal lighting conditions don’t last forever. We need to make the most of the light while it’s there.
The first location is the Houses of Parliament which makes a great subject when lit up and reflected in the river Thames. The iconic London Eye comes next and we finish the shoot with Westminster abbey.
All the techniques relevant to night photography will be covered on this course along with developing an eye for composition.
Because this is a night shoot a tripod is essential for this workshop. If you don’t have a tripod don’t worry, as I have a couple of tripods that I lend out to students.
This course is limited to a maximum of six students. By keeping the numbers low I can give each participant as much individual attention as they need.

Student’s testimonial from this course: “Many thanks for the notes etc, will make for some interesting bedtime reading! On a more serious note I am sure they will be useful and good for reference. This was my first photography workshop and I was not sure what I would get from it, but have to say that I enjoyed it immensely and found the other participants great fun. The time you took to explain settings etc will be very useful going forward and I certainly learnt much more than I expected. Once again many thanks for a most enjoyable few hours, all the best to you and yours”. Yo Gladman, London Night Photography course
