Venice Carnival Photography Workshop
Venice is indeed a magical city. Full of winding pathways, hidden canals, amazing architecture and a Gondola on almost every canal corner. Venice is quite simply the photographer’s dream. And if that’s not enough, during carnival time there is the bonus of elaborately-costumed characters just waiting to have a lens trained on them. Please scroll down to see the dates of this photography course.
Venice has so much to offer the photographer, which is why this photography training course in Venice runs for three full days of photography. During the course there will be ample time to improve your skills, photographing well known Venice landmarks as well as many hidden gems such as quiet canals, atmospheric squares, traditional fish and fruit markets, Gondolas and of course the flambouyantly costumed Venetians.
Also included in this photography course is a visit to the island of Burano which is a must for any photographer. Burano is a kaleidoscope of colour; each resident seemingly trying to outdo their neighbours by painting their house in a different shade of vibrant colour. It’s hard to decide what to photograph next!
In keeping with all of my photography courses, each day is split between learning to perfect your skills and knowledge with various photography techniques and developing your photographer’s eye through composition, as well as understanding light and colour.
We will cover all relevant camera controls and menus, plus controlling depth of field, creative use of shutter speed, composition, use of light and colour, creative use of focal length, low light photography, as well as taking some great “people pictures” – better known as street photography.
The cost of this course includes tuition only.
I would recommend staying at the four star Tritone Hotel in nearby Mestre which is very near to and has excellent transport links to Venice. If you wish to stay somewhere else in Mestre that’s not a problem – there are many hotels there. We will meet at Mestre railway station each morning if you are staying in Mestre or at Venice railway station (if you decide to stay in Venice itself).
We will also view Venice by water, giving us two different perspectives of this wonderful city. The waterbus will take us out to the island of Burano with its wonderful photographic potential.
Flights, transfers to and from the airport, food, hotel accommodation, your transport into Venice each day are not included in the price of this trip. You would also need to purchase a twelve-hour waterbus pass – which is about 20 Euros. Students are also required to take out their own travel insurance.
This photography training course in Venice is limited to just six students which means I can tailor the course to each individual regardless of their level of photographic ability. A full set of notes covering all photographic techniques practiced during the course is also supplied to each student.
